What to Do in Wisła During the Winter Vacation?

16 December 2022

The first snowfall already attracts winter sports enthusiasts to Wisła. Professionally groomed ski slopes and a wide range of hotels make it enticing for a weekend getaway or winter holidays. What can you do in Wisła during the winter vacation?

If you're currently contemplating a winter getaway and your friends suggest trips to Białka Tatrzańska, Szczyrk, Zakopane, or Karpacz, surprise them by proposing Wisła – a charming town located in the Silesian Beskids, increasingly popular among tourists from Poland and Slovakia.

The Town of Wisła – Perfect for a Winter Vacation

Thanks to the popularity of ski jumping, Wisła has gained the favor of winter sports enthusiasts. Seventy percent of the area of this picturesque town is covered by forests, mainly spruce, typical for this region. While Wisła is visited throughout the year, it particularly thrives during the Christmas season and winter holidays. It's no wonder, as part of the skipass, tourists have access to 14 ski resorts, totaling 30 kilometers of slopes with varying degrees of difficulty.

Another advantage for a vacation in Wisła is easy access via express roads. You won't experience the familiar traffic jams on Zakopane Road. The distance from Warsaw (approximately 380 kilometers) can be covered in less than 5 hours, and the journey from Wrocław (approximately 250 kilometers) takes 3 hours. For Silesian residents, the trip to Wisła takes just over an hour!

Active Winter in Wisła

Ski lifts, cross-country skiing trails, sleigh rides, and many other attractions can make your stay in Wisła very diverse. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can take advantage of the Jonidło Sports Center and head to Przełęcz Kubalonka, which meets all FIS requirements. Both centers have equipment rentals.

Tourists who prefer downhill skiing or snowboarding can choose from numerous ski slopes. Due to their proximity and well-prepared slopes, we recommend "Cieńków," "Klepki," and "Nowa Osada." To reach the "Cieńków" Ski Resort in Wisła Malinka from the Vestina Hotel, you only need to cover a distance of 500 meters! You can put on your ski boots at the hotel and take a leisurely walk to the slopes! Upon your return, you can visit our Chaty Grillowa, which welcomes guests with the scent of wood burning in a large fireplace.

In Wisła, fans of ski touring will also find interesting routes! We invite you to read an article in which Jakub Glajcar, an instructor of downhill and ski touring, explains the phenomenon of this sport.

A less obvious form of winter madness is riding ATVs and snowmobiles. More and more people are also trying snowtubing, which involves sliding down a hill on an inflatable tube!

If you have a desire to explore new things, you can try skiing on wooden skis handcrafted by Marek Forszt from Wisła.

And when you're finally exhausted, you can transport yourself to a fairytale setting by going on a sleigh ride! A sleigh ride in the mountains is already a mandatory part of winter relaxation for many tourists. Especially one that ends with a feast accompanied by the sounds of a mountain band and a bonfire with sausages! Highly recommended!

Interesting Places in Wisła's Center

While in Wisła, be sure to reserve at least one day for exploring the town! Near the Vestina Hotel, you'll find the Adam Małysz Ski Jump. You can stop at its observation tower and enjoy a cup of tea. You can also head towards Lake Czerniańskie and stop at the dam. Near the reservoir, you'll find the Castle of the President of the Republic of Poland, which is open to visitors.

When heading towards the town center, be sure to stop by the Market Square. Visit the Beskid Museum, and take a look at the beautiful Evangelical Church from 1838. Fans of Adam Małysz will undoubtedly enjoy a visit to his museum!

Take a walk in Kopczyński Park. And if you want to go ice skating, head to the Wisła Pools area – there's an ice rink and a winter park.

For nature enthusiasts, the Center for Ecological Education in Wisła is an interesting place. We recommend planning your visit in advance and attending workshops organized by this institution. Workshops for the general public are also organized by the Beskid Museum.

Wisła and Winter Attractions for Children

The Winter Playground Wisła is a significant attraction for children. It operates during the winter season and is located near the "Stok" ski resort. It guarantees plenty of fun and smiles with a toboggan slide, snowball targets, and an inflatable carousel. It's worth noting that most ski resorts offer so-called skiing kindergartens. So, there will be no shortage of snow fun.

Young explorers can follow the trail of the Wisła bear, while older ones can walk along the Path of Legends in Kopczyński Park.

What to do during a winter vacation in Wisła? We hope that after reading this text, you have no doubts that a stay in Wisła can be incredibly interesting. You can spend long hours not only on the slopes but also enjoying the attractions in the town center. It's a good idea to check in advance what the Beskid Museum or the Center for Ecological Education has to offer because participating in their events can be a great way to get to know the local folklore.

And after a long and active day, we invite you to relax in our cozy spa area. A sauna session or time spent in the salt cave will have a soothing effect on your body and ensure an even more restful sleep.

Welcome to the Vestina Hotel!
